The Ones We Love - Espresso Blend

$21.00
Size
Beans

A bolder two coffee pairing bringing heavier flavours to accommodate the addition of milk.

This essentially allows us to celebrate more coffees "we love" (that additionally may have a small lot size), finds a nice middle point between “single” and “blend”, and sets us a great Quality Control challenge to make an interesting and different product to Candyman that fluctuates seasonally, as the components change more frequently.

The Ones We Love will have has less focus on consistency of flavours per se, and more on short run, special profiles with high character.

The espresso version also has the requirement to have great presence in milk.

Go deeper into how we source...

Why Smallholders?

Smallholder producers are the unsung heros of our coffee menu. That’s why their names are on the front of the boxes. We love the quality, variety and uniqueness of coffee produced by smallholder producers. We feel deeply the need to support small producers to grow their future, support their family and receive a fair return for the great coffee they produce.

Sustainably grown

The producers we work with care deeply about their land and community. We always encourage farming practices that support healthy soils and biodiversity. Many of the producers we work with use holistic, regenerative and organic practices. Some have done so for over 10 years while others are learning and adapting their farms to be more naturally resilient as the effects of climate changes bring new challenges. We promote and organize peer-to-peer agricultural training to assist them in their transition away from chemical inputs.

Ethically sourced

We prioritize purchasing from smallholder producers, because they are more likely to be disadvantaged in terms of market access. We recognise inherent power imbalances in relationships between buyers and sellers, and we seek to empower producers to recognise the value that they can and do add to their product. We negotiate directly with them to agree on a farmgate price for parchment coffee that takes into consideration the cost of production, steps taken towards environmental preservation, and premiums for quality.
